Last night, it snowed here in Ireland. Well, I say ’snowed’ – at the minute, there’s a light dusting of powder on the hedges and trees, and about an inch on the ground. I can still see grass in some spots. (If you want to see the kind of snow I’m talking about, have a [...]

I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday. I need another weekend! It’s been quite a busy one so far. Yesterday I completed 3 exams of a computer course I’m doing. It can usually take a year, but I’m charging at it like a junkie with a claymore because I want to get it done, dusted and [...]
Nuthin but a hound dog

Don’t read on. It’s one of those ubiquitous moaning blogs you often see. This is driving me up the walls. Up the bloody walls, out the window and round and round the garden as it happens. Since Monday I’ve been beclouded by a thick, impenetrable mood that nothing will shift. It’s pissing me off, too, [...]

I’m still reading Night Soldiers, and loving it. It’s becoming one of those books that make you hope your bus will be a bit late so you finish the chapter. In some ways it is dull, but I’m still hooked on it. I’ll rephrase that: I don’t find it dull at all, but if someone [...]

The world porridge championships have finished in Scotland. The sponsor, Hamlyn’s Oats, must feel a bit aggrieved when the winner made her speech about the most important factor being the choice of oats. The winning oats were sourced from an independent health food shop, rather than Hamlyn’s inferior offerings. Oh well.

Today I was sitting at a nice, clear, roomy table in a nice, clear quiet room with no possible distractions for the next hour, I had a pen in one hand and paper in the other. Then I saw a Tip-Ex bottle, and thought – and I really thought this, I’m not rationalizing after the [...]
Autumn Comes

Well, that’s all then. The week or two of sun in September’s gone, and ‘Summer’ went with it. Not that it makes a lot of difference: it might have been summer according to the tilt of the planet, but I don’t think this region was privy to the information.
Today was one of those mornings. I [...]

You Should Visit Argentina
Cowboys, European food, beaches, and skiing. This country is like no other!
Learn to tango, hike across Patagonia, eat at fine restaurants… you’ll never be bored.
What Latin American Country Should You Visit?
I thought I’d have a go at this meme passed on by Nicolemarie. I don’t usually bother with them!
1. If you had to name the most terrifying moment of your life so far, what would it be?
It would have to be the time I got a mystery illness of some description. I was in [...]
